BS in Aerospace Engineering from the US Naval Academy, MS in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Naval Postgraduate School, and a USNTPS graduate (Class 101)
Mr. Wright’s combined US Navy and civilian flight experience spans over 32 years, over 5000 hrs and over 65 aircraft models. Following a 24 year US Navy career, Mr. Wright transitioned to civilian life where he currently serves as Chief Pilot for KBRwyle, and as an active test pilot supporting the US Navy’s P-8A Poseidon test program. His P-8A experimental/developmental flight test experience covers many aeromechanics disciplines including Flutter (clean wing and with wing stores), Loads (Flight, Landing and Ground), Flying Qualities (normal and degraded modes, including ice shapes), Takeoff, Landing and Cruise Performance (including single engine), Static and Dynamic Vmca, weapons carriage, safe separation, weapons delivery accuracy, mission systems integration and performance, flight deck avionics integration, major subsystem tests (fuel, electrical, oil, hydraulic, OBIGGS), and cold and hot weather environment tests. He has significant test experience on the basic P-8A, as well as on a heavily modified variant, having been a member of the Integrated Test Team since 2009. Other significant test experience includes P-3C Orion aeromechanics tests in many of the same disciplines on the basic P-3C aircraft and on modified variants. His military career included operational tours in the P-3C, overseas deployments, postgraduate education, five test pilot tours including Chief Test Pilot/Commanding Officer (VX-20/Pax), USNTPS Senior Fixed Wing Instructor, and several NAVAIR engineering and program management tours supporting P-3C, P-8A, F/A-18E/F and E-2D. His qualifications include Experimental Test Pilot, Stores Carriage and Separation Test Pilot, Safety/Photo Chase Instructor Pilot, Functional Check Flight Pilot, NATOPS Instructor Pilot and Crew Resource Management Facilitator.
Mr. Wright is an Associate Fellow in the Society of Experimental Test Pilots (SETP). He currently serves as Chairman, SETP East Coast Section (2016/2017) and he is on the Flight Test Safety Committee Board of Directors (2016/2017). He was the 2016 SETP East Coast Section Symposium Chairman, a Technical Session Chairman at the 2016 Flight Test Safety Workshop, and presented technical papers at the 2015 Flight Test Safety Workshop and 2015 SETP East Coast Symposium.
